Cherry Blossom Designer Cakes was set up in 2018, with the aim of providing high quality, bespoke cakes and excellent service to every customer.
The journey began in 2011 while studying Forensic Biology at University, when Stephanie took a short cake decorating course with Paul Bradford's Sugarcraft School. After finishing University, Stephanie realised forensic science was not where her future lay and took up a full time job. However the lure of cakes and the desire to express her creativity became too strong to resist, so in 2015 she left her job and enrolled in a bakery and cake design course at City of Glasgow College.
On graduating in 2017, Stephanie worked as a Baker in high volume bakeries and then as a Cake Decorator in bespoke cake shops to gain experience, before setting up the business in 2018. Initially working from home, she soon outgrew her kitchen (and almost every other room in the house), as orders started to grow.
After identifying the shop in Bathgate, and following a total renovation from top to bottom, Cherry Blossom Designer Cakes opened in April 2019. Stephanie not only has a long established family connection to Bathgate, but the location is ideal because of its location within central Scotland.
The business’ name comes from Stephanie's husband proposing to her in Japan, which is renowned for its cherry blossom trees.
